Midnight suspects bust red-handed in Tamboerskloof

25 June 2020

Residents of Tamboerskloof are asked to remain vigilant and to be aware of an apparent increase in crime levels across the city. This follows the arrest of two suspects this week along Woodside Road (just after 11pm on Wednesday 24 June 2020).

“One of our armed response officers was conducting proactive patrols in the area and encountered two unidentified suspects walking down the road. Their demeanor looked suspicious and our officer proceeded to investigate,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT.

“When the suspects saw our officer approaching they started to run away, but they were apprehended with the assistance of an SAPS patrol vehicle which happened to also be driving past.”

The suspects were searched, which led to the discovery of screwdrivers and drugs in one suspect’s possession. One suspect reportedly admitted to planning to break into cars parked in the street.

“Both suspects were arrested by the police. I urge residents of Tamboerskloof to be alert to any suspicious activity in the area and to raise the alarm if they see anything out of place. Please also never leave any valuable items in your parked car at night,” says Mr Hanning.
